E-Filing Authority meets at Fall Conference
Tuesday, October 20, 2015
The Florida Courts E-Filing Authority Board of Directors in conjunction with the Florida Court Clerk & Comptrollers Fall Conference in Orlando on Tuesday, October 6.
Carolyn Weber, E-Filing Portal Program Manager, reported to the board that the September upgrade was successful.
“It went off without a hitch,” Ms. Weber reported, “There were very few service desk calls and everything seems to be working properly.”
She told the board that in addition to adding new filer roles, including media and surety bond agents, the new workbench feature will allow filers to save work in progress and submit it at a later time. The Access to Justice (A2J) software, was also installed, but has not yet been made available to users. Board member the Honorable Sharon R. Bock (Palm Beach) told the board that, while the forms had been developed over the past year or so, they were being reviewed by the Judicial Management Council and the various Florida Bar committees. Once completed, she would be promoting the system to the self-represented litigants. Since the soft launch in October 2014, this filer group has grown to almost 24,000 registered users.
Authority Chair Tim Smith (Putnam) reported to the board that his request for standardization in May had been a success. He thanked everyone for updating their systems to put in the best practice recommendations for division, case types and sub-types. The board authorized portal staff to begin working on the next phase, document descriptions, as soon as the FCCC Best Practices Committee finished their work.
The next meeting of the Florida Courts E-Filing Authority Board of Directors will be held January 19, 2016, in Tallahassee.
