The Honorable Barbara T. Scott (Charlotte) has decided to not seek re-election as the Charlotte County Clerk and Comptroller in 2016. Clerk Scott is now serving in her 8th term in office and is currently the longest serving active elected Clerk. She will complete the rest of her term.
Clerk Scott has made tremendous progress in several areas of the courts over the last many years; she is most proud of her success improving child support and domestic violence programs throughout the State of Florida and for being instrumental in helping create a paperless courtroom, and will continue to work on projects for the betterment of her office before she leaves.
“The citizens of Charlotte County have blessed me with one of the greatest jobs in the community which has given me the opportunity to help those in need,” state Clerk Scott. “I am very grateful for all the individuals who have served on my staff over these many years.
“I have enjoyed the ultimate career in our community, and after over 40 years in public service, it is time for me to pass this opportunity on to someone else. I look forward to spending more time with my husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.”
The Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers would like to thank Clerk Scott for her many years of service to the Clerks, the association and Charlotte County.
