The Honorable Sharon R. Bock, Esq. (Palm Beach) the Clerks' Statewide Investigation Alliance hosted the (First) Annual Training Symposium for inspector generals (IG) and IG investigators in West Palm Beach on September 26- 27. Several Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers have partnered with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ Office of Public & Professional Guardians (OPPG) to investigate legally sufficient complaints against professional guardians statewide. The Alliance includes IGs from the following counties’ Clerk offices: Palm Beach, Pinellas, Lake, Lee, Okaloosa, Polk and Sarasota.

At the training, Alliance members heard from its partners from the Florida Department of Elder Affairs OPPG and Ombudsman, Florida DCF/APS, Florida AHCA, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, and Nova Southeastern University School of Law about investigating professional guardians. FSGA Board Member Scott Greenberg, and Tino Negri, both from Comforcare Senior Services, started the training off by enlightening the investigators about Alzheimer's type dementia. Katherine Lewis Perrin, Esq. and Preston Mighdoll, Esq., attorneys with Kitroser and Associates in North Palm Beach, talked about prosecuting wrongdoers. Stephen Cohen, Esq., of the Law Office of Stephen M. Cohen, offered his legal and judicial expertise to round-out the statewide training.
