Wednesday, October 18, 2017   (0 Comments)

The Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) this week holds its third committee week of 2017 in Tallahassee, which will be highlighted by a meeting of the full commission tomorrow, Tuesday, October 17, 2017, from 2 – 5 p.m., EDT, in the Florida Senate Chamber. The Commission’s Daily Order of Business may be found via this link (page 4). In addition this week, both the CRC Rules and Administration Committee and the CRC General Provisions Committee will meet. Links to the agendas for each of these meetings may be found in this October 13 CRC Press Release.

To watch any of this week’s CRC meetings live via The Florida Channel, navigate to the website using the provided link, select the “Live Streams” tab from the menu on the right-hand side of your screen, then scroll down to select the stream for the committee meeting of interest. Similar to legislative committee meetings, events on the Live Streams schedule begin streaming about 10 minutes prior to their scheduled start times. Audio is available when the event is officially convened by the chair.

As a follow up to the October 3 presentation on Florida’s Clerks of Court during the CRC Judicial Committee meeting, the association would like to thank the Honorable Ken Burke, CPA (Pinellas), the Honorable Paula S. O’Neil, Ph.D. (Pasco), and the Honorable Joseph E. Smith (St. Lucie) for providing an overview of Florida’s Clerks of Court and their constitutional role. A link to the presentation, as well as the presentation handout, is now available on the Communications Resources tab of the FCCC website under Additional Resources.  As a reminder, you will need your website user name and password in order to access this information.

And, while the deadline for submitting public proposals for the CRC’s consideration has passed, the CRC has adopted an October 31 deadline for the filing of Commissioner proposals. To date, CRC Commissioners have filed 14 proposals. These proposals, along with the more than 780 public proposals that were filed online, may be viewed and monitored via the CRC’s official website at http://www.flcrc.gov. From the home page, select “Proposals” from the menu bar at the top of the page, then select either “Commissioner Proposals” or “Public Proposals” to view activity. The online submitted proposals may be searched in a variety of ways and Commissioner proposals may be tracked with a CRC account. To create a CRC account, please visit: https://www.flcrc.gov/Account/Signup.

The next CRC Committee Week is scheduled for October 30 - November 3, 2017, in Tallahassee. A tentative schedule of meeting time allocations may be found via this link.
