E-Filing Authority Board of Directors meets to discuss third party batch filing

Wednesday, May 11, 2016   (0 Comments)

Florida Courts E-Filing Authority Board of Directors met via WebEx on April 28 for the purpose of discussing third party batch e-filing. Briefly discussed during previous Authority meetings, the E-Portal may eventually allow the submission of multiple documents in multiple civil cases in one filing session, a process known as batch filing. Batch filing for criminal cases has been previously implemented for state attorneys and public defenders. Large law firms and private companies have expressed interest in the batch filing process for civil cases, such as mortgage foreclosures and traffic cases.

Before Carolyn Weber, E-Portal Program Manager, provided an update on the status of third party batch e-filing, the Honorable Bob Inzer (Leon), Authority Board Member, discussed the potential for deficit if this project, or any others, that are outside the original scope of the project agreement is taken on. The Honorable Tim Smith (Putnam), Chair, acknowledged that this is a conceptual issue that still needs legal review by the Authority general counsel and a framework approved by the board.

The Florida Courts E-Filing Authority is next scheduled to meet in Orlando in late June for the annual meeting of the Authority Board and members.
