CJJIS Council meets in Jacksonville; Clerk Carolyn Timmann named Council Chair

Monday, July 24, 2017   (0 Comments)

The Criminal and Juvenile Justice Information Systems (CJJIS) Council held a regular meeting in Jacksonville last Monday and received a variety of program and project updates from justice partner agencies and council committees related to criminal justice initiatives in Florida.

The Honorable Carolyn Timmann (Martin), who serves as the Clerks’ representative on the CJJIS Council, provided a standing committee report from the Resource Committee, which she chairs. Clerk Timman’s report focused on one of the goals of the committee: the development of an all-inclusive inventory of criminal justice partners’ technology systems and projects that are currently available statewide. This inventory helps to support the mission of CJJIS—providing “statewide oversight of justice information systems and data while developing plans and policies to facilitate the coordination of information sharing and interoperability, and ensuring appropriate access and security”—and will be an important resource for justice partners going forward.

During the meeting, Clerk Timmann was also named Chair of the CJJIS Council, following a nomination by fellow council members. Clerk Timmann has served on the council since first being appointed by Governor Rick Scott in March of 2014.

The association would like to thank Clerk Timmann for her continued service on the CJJIS Council and congratulate her on this exciting new role.

The CCJIS Council’s next in-person meeting is scheduled for January 17, 2018, in Tallahassee.
