Help safeguard your home by signing up for a Property Alert Service provided by many Clerks and Comptrollers throughout Florida. The free service alerts property and business owners of potential instances of property fraud by notifying subscribers when a deed, mortgage, or other official record is recorded in their name in their local county's official records. If you receive an alert about activity not initiated by you, this early notification can provide valuable time to stop criminals in their tracks.
What is Property Fraud?Property fraud occurs when a party uses a forged deed to sell or transfer property that does not belong to them. Although a forged document might suggest property ownership has changed, your local Clerk and Comptroller's system will provide rightful owners with the opportunity to reclaim their property under the correct name.
