Tuesday, February 9, 2016   (0 Comments)

The Honorable Tiffany Moore Russell (Orange) has devoted her time and career to serving and making the community stronger. It is for this reason that the Southwest Orlando Jaycees and YMCA of Central Florida presented Clerk Russell with the 2016 Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy Lifetime Achievement Award during the Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy Prayer Breakfast on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

“I am so deeply honored to have been chosen to be the recipient of this award,” said Clerk Russell. “Thank you Central Florida YMCA and Southwest Orlando Jacyees for choosing me to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Clerk Russell made history as the youngest County Commissioner when she was elected in 2006 to represent District 6 in Orange County. During her time as Commissioner, she was dedicated to increasing recreational and career opportunities for youth, creating stable and viable neighborhoods and strengthening the local economy by increasing the availability of jobs and minority businesses.

In 2014, Clerk Russell was elected as the first African-American female to serve as Clerk of the Circuit Court in the State of Florida and the first African-American Clerk of the Circuit Court in Orange County. As Clerk, she is focused on the continued development of technology, access to the court system and providing great customer service.

Past recipients of the award include Mable Butler, Judge Belvin Perry and Harris Rosen.
