The Honorable Linda Doggett (Lee) was recently named the Fort Myers News-Press 2015 Public Official of the Year for her public service and use of technology.
Clerk Doggett was recognized for leading an outreach campaign to educate the public on their right to public records. Clerk Doggett has also aided in the transparency for other agencies including a performance audit of the Lee County Supervisor of Elections’ office. Her commitment to technology saved taxpayers about $1 million through a shift to electronic records. And, in addition to technology-based campaigns, “Passport Saturdays” let residents to get their passport on the weekends twice a year.
“It is wonderful to be recognized for something you love to do,” said Clerk Doggett.
