Volusia Clerk honored with 2015 Best of NIEM Award for CCIS 3.0 Project

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

The Volusia Clerk’s office recently received national recognition for its pilot project work on the Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS 3.0), a computer program that allows Clerks’ offices across the state to share information. The office received the 2015 Best of NIEM award, which stands for National Information Exchange Model (NIEM), for a pilot program to develop a program to allow computers at the Clerk’s office to communicate with a central website and share information. Only two NIEM awards were given for 2015.

The CCIS 3.0 computer interface allows a judge, for example, in a family law case in Volusia to view information in real time on another family law case in another county in Florida. Twenty Clerk’s offices are now running the interface and by the end of the year all of Florida's 67 Clerks’ offices are expected to be operating it.

The Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers were also successful in receiving a $1.8 million grant to provide assistance with implementing the model for information sharing statewide.
