Proposal 55 passes first committee; scheduled for CRC Local Government this Friday

The Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) Judicial Committee met in Tallahassee last Friday and unanimously passed Proposal 55 by Commissioner Frank Kruppenbacher, as amended, with a 7-0 vote. Thank you to the Honorable Stacy M. Butterfield, CPA (Polk), and the Honorable Ken Burke, CPA (Pinellas), who spoke in support of Proposal 55, and to the Honorable Billy Washington (Madison) for attending the meeting and waiving in support. This proposal, which seeks to amend Section 14 of Article V of Florida’s Constitution to provide a mechanism to address Clerks’ recurring budget deficits, is scheduled to be heard by the CRC Local Government Committee, this Friday, January 26, during its 9:00 a.m., EST, meeting. While the full meeting packet for Friday’s meeting is not yet available, an agenda has been published, accessible via this link.
