Florida Courts E-Filing Authority Board holds meeting

The Florida Courts E-Filing Authority Board held their first meeting of the fall on Wednesday, September 16, via WebEx. The Honorable Karen E. Rushing (Sarasota) has served on the Board since inception in 2010 and has recently been tapped by the Honorable Tara S. Green (Clay), FCCC President, to serve as Chair of the E-Filing Authority Board for the 2020-2021 program year.

During the meeting, the Honorable Todd Newton (Gilchrist) was elected as Vice Chair and the Honorable Jeff Smith, CPA (Indian River), was elected to serve as the Board’s Secretary/Treasurer. Both Clerks will hold these positions until June 30, 2021. In addition to elections, Chair Rushing asked Clerk Green to chair a Communications Committee that will assist in rebranding and updating the Authority website. Clerk Smith will also lead a Finance Committee to review policies and procedures.

Portal Activity and Service Desk Call Reports were also provided. Carolyn Weber, Portal Program Manager, reported that while the overall submission numbers were down due to the pandemic, they were beginning to increase in the past month as the courts began moving from Phase 1 to Phase 2 and holding more court hearings.

The next meeting of the Board of Directors is scheduled for October 15, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.
