Indian River Clerk awarded top financial honors

The Honorable Jeffrey R. Smith, CPA (Indian River), has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), for his comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2019. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

 

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the county’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government agency and its management.

 

“This award is indicative of the expertise and dedication of my staff beginning with Elissa Nagy, CPA, CGFO, Chief Deputy of Finance & Accounting, Raeanne Cone, CGFO, Senior Accountant, Michelle Adams, CGFO, Staff Accountant, and the entire accounting staff,” said Jeffrey R. Smith, Indian River Clerk and Comptroller. “In addition, the Board of County Commissioners’ Office of Management and Budget. led by Kristin Daniels, CGFO, has played an integral part of the financial management of the county.”
