The Honorable Gwen Marshall Knight (Leon), in a partnership with the Tallahassee Bar Association, has opened the Nikki A. Clark Low Bono Center, providing clients with limited legal guidance and low-cost attorney consultations in family law, residential landlord/tenant, and small claims actions under $8,000.
Clerk Marshall Knight stated “Our model is based on highly successful programs in other Clerks’ offices, including Orange and Pinellas counties. It was designed to give the public access to justice at affordable costs.”
Former Second Circuit and First District Court of Appeal judge Nikki Ann Clark, who the center is named after, stated, “This is the most incredible honor I’ve ever received in my entire life,” likening it to receiving a lifetime achievement award and adding initiatives like the Low Bono Center make her proud be a part of the Leon County community. “We are so lucky in this county to live among. . . lawyers who go the extra step; lawyers who want to see people make their way to the courts.”
