Clerk Spotlight: Michelle Miller
Wednesday, May 31, 2023
About Michelle Miller During her time with the St. Lucie Sheriff's Office in detention investigations, Michelle Miller couldn’t help but notice opportunities to improve efficiency and cooperation between the local Clerk of Court’s office and other agencies. Recognizing the need for more accessibility and desiring to further serve the people of St. Lucie County, Miller decided to run for Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. She won the election in 2020 and was sworn into the role on January 5, 2021.
Clerk Miller considers the ability to help her community and serve alongside more than 150 dedicated Deputy Clerks an immense privilege. She wakes up each day excited to tackle new challenges and with great appreciation for the group of incredibly talented individuals she works with.
Clerk Miller has a lot to be proud of in St. Lucie County. In addition to an annual Valentine's Day group wedding ceremony, her office hosts at least one Shred & Protect event each year. Shred & Protect is a free event to help St. Lucie residents conveniently dispose of paperwork that may contain personal information.
Clerk Miller is also focused on continuing to innovate and streamline services at the St. Lucie Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s Office. With an eye on the future, she introduced SAM, a website chatbot feature that helps serve customers with increased speed and efficiency. In the first year, SAM served over 12,000 customers, answering more than 20,000 questions. Doors to a new Customer Care Center in downtown Fort Pierce opened in February 2023, which centralized services from several departments and streamlined access to Clerk services for local residents and businesses.
When she’s not improving and innovating services for her community, Clerk Miller cherishes time together with her family. She’s happily married and a proud mother to two incredible daughters, and she has two sweet granddaughters who are her pride and joy.
