Charlotte County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller's Office
In honor of Star Wars Day on May 4, the Charlotte County Clerk and Comptroller's Office hosted its first “May the Fourth Be With You” Wedding Event. The office was open to the public on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., ET.
The ceremony room was decorated and transformed into an out of this world celebration for seven couples. Special guests included stand-ups of Darth Vader, Luke and Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. During the ceremony, couples were treated with Star Wars theme music and special vows which included marital advice from Master Yoda. After saying “I do,” one couple proceeded directly into a lightsaber duel – it was as if they had been married for years! Refreshments such as Chewy bits, Yoda scones, Leia cinnamon buns, and lightsaber cupcakes were provided.
The office prepared “May the Fourth Be With You” commemorative marriage certificates which confirmed couples’ commitment to travel side by side in an uncertain universe.
The Force was strong on this unforgettable day. |
