Clerk Patty Announces Leave of Absence for Military Service

The Honorable Brandon J. Patty (St. Johns) requested a leave of absence from Governor Ron DeSantis to fulfill his military service. Clerk Patty is a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves, serving as an Information Warfare Officer at Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
"In early December, I received official notification from the Navy that I had been selected to be involuntarily mobilized in support of overseas contingency operations," shared Clerk Patty. "...being called to serve overseas in uniform is an absolute honor and privilege. My deployment orders commence at the end of this month and are scheduled to run until the end of the year.”
Clerk Patty began his deployment to the Middle East on Friday, May 24, 2024. During his leave of absence, Clerk Patty appointed Chief Information Officer John Rundgren to fulfill the responsibilities as Clerk.
“Thank you for your service, both as a county officer and as a member of the Armed Services of the United States of America,” said Governor DeSantis. “I join your friends and family in looking forward to your safe return.”
