Trey Hightower Sworn in as Jefferson County Clerk and Comptroller

Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Cecil "Trey" Hightower as the new Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller for Jefferson County. Clerk Hightower was sworn in on November 1, 2024. Prior to this role, he served as an Administrative Specialist in the Treasury Management Office of the City of Tallahassee’s Treasurer-Clerk, where he gained extensive experience in account balancing, reconciliation, budgeting, and fraud monitoring. To view the official press release, please click here. Clerk Hightower succeeds Jason Welty, who has served as the Jefferson County Clerk and Comptroller since November 13, 2023. Previously, Welty was the Deputy Executive Director for the Florida Clerks of Court Operations Corporation (CCOC). On November 1, Welty returned to CCOC assuming the role of Executive Director. |
