The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller's Office recently noticed a rise in jury scam attempts, with scammers using "St. Johns County Sheriff's Office (SJSO)" on caller ID to target residents. Partnering with SJSO, the St. Johns Clerk and Comptroller's Office educated the public about how jury service notifications were handled and debunked common scam tactics. To enhance awareness, they created a fun and engaging video reel reminding residents to verify suspicious calls, never pay fines over the phone, and neither their office nor SJSO contacts residents by phone about jury service.
This initiative highlighted their commitment to resident safety, strong partnerships, and proactive community engagement. By tackling these scams, the St. Johns Clerk and Comptroller's Office "Elevated the Clerk Brand" and reinforced trust within the community.
