Fourth New Clerk Academy Concludes

The New Clerk Academy Class of 2024 completed its fourth academy on Monday, November 3 through Friday, November 7, 2025, in Gainesville. The training was led by the Honorable Billy Washington (Madison), New Clerk Academy Subcommittee Chair.
Sessions included: Tax Deed Sales and Value Adjustment Board; Communicating with Legislators; Offense, Defense, and Special Teams: A Day in the Life of Your FCCC Government Relations Team; Cybersecurity; Budget Process: Clerk and Board; Unified Family Court and Domestic Cases; Domestic Violence; County Civil; Juvenile Court; Dependency Court; Florida Open Government Requirements and New Exemptions; and Property Management and Fixed Assets.
On Tuesday, the class was joined by other Clerks and Clerks' staff across the state for a Florida Department of Corrections (DOC) special tour of the Reception and Medical Center in Lake Butler and Union Correctional Institution in Raiford. The tour included a detailed tour of the DOC facilities, including a visit to Florida's only prison hospital, the male death row unit, and a tour of the PRIDE license plate plant. FCCC would like to thank DOC Region 2 Director John Palmer and many other DOC officials for hosting the Clerks. |

On Friday morning, the class participated in the Low Elements Challenge Course at Lake Wauburg. This program progresses through icebreakers, team-based problem-solving activities, and culminates in low elements. These low elements are various logs, cables, and planks 1-2 feet off the ground that require group cooperation.
