Clerks and Comptrollers Unite in Tallahassee for the 2026 Clerks' Day at the Capitol

Highlighting the second week of the 2026 legislative session, 38 Court Clerks and Comptrollers and their team members gathered in Tallahassee for Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers (FCCC) annual Clerks’ Day at the Capitol, joining with local legislators to advocate for and advance FCCC’s membership-approved 2026 Legislative Priorities. FCCC thanks those who were able to travel last week and all Clerks and Comptrollers for the continued participation in the “Clerks First” advocacy model, whether in Tallahassee or in local communities.

Clerks’ Day at the Capitol coincided with another positive week for Clerks’ legislative priorities. On January 21, the House Justice Budget Subcommittee took up and passed CS/HB 759 Court Fees by Representative David Smith. As a reminder, this bill addresses current and future court-side revenue shortfalls by applying the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index (CPI) Inflation Calculator to targeted Circuit and County Civil, Domestic Relations, and Probate/Guardianship fees and Service Charges. To watch Representative Smith’s presentation of the bill, please click here and advance to the 11:20 minute mark.

Continuing the momentum into the third week of session, SB 532 Court Fees by Senator Corey Simon, the companion bill to CS/HB 759, has been placed on the agenda for the Senate Committee on Judiciary for Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., ET, for its first committee hearing. To watch Tuesday’s meeting, navigate to The Florida Channel, select the “Live Streams” tab from the menu on the right-hand side of the screen, then scroll down to Senate Judiciary. Please note, events on the Live Streams schedule begin streaming about 10 minutes prior to their scheduled start times. Audio is available when the event is officially convened by the chair. If you are unable to watch the meeting live, all meetings are available to view via the Florida Channel’s online video library shortly following the meeting’s conclusion.
